Are you for or against using animals for medical research?
At the moment it’s legal to use animals for medical
research but only if it is to improve health since February 1, 2013 till now.
If it is for esthetic use it is illegal since March 19,
2013 till now. Although there are arguments both for and against this practice.
One of the arguments for animals research is that
since animal experiments, primarily in mice, the survival rates of cancer has
increased. In addition Trastuzumab (hezeptin) a protein of humanized mouse has
helped increase the survival rate of cancer patients. No one could have
obtained any research on mice.
On the other hand, some scientists argue that animal
research is based on a misconception: that the results of non-human animals can
be applied to the human body. Animal reactions to drugs, vaccines and
experiments not only differ from those of humans, but differ from species to
species. Disregarding this profound difference psyche has been and still very
expensive to human health.
All in all, I´m not for animals research because
animals suffer.
